Weaving Sculpture
Punch Cards is a project that revolves around the era of the
Industrial Revolution and explores the mechanisation of manual work. Growing up
in Switzerland, my origins stem from field work and agriculture.
Using family photos and bank images, I juxtaposed representation of manual and mechanical work. These poignant images were used to create a small booklet.
Later on, these images were weaved together into a sculpture depicting the contrast between craftmanship and mechanic work. The sculpture was displayed in the LCCA gallery as part of the art exhibition ‘Voyager 2’.
Details:
10 collages punch cards; various sizes
Weaving sculpture: 110 x 107.5cm
